Porcelain Veneers in Colombia: Your New Smile Guide
What are Porcelain Veneers?
Porcelain veneers are custom-made, thin shells crafted from high-quality ceramic material designed to cover the front surface of your teeth. They’re known for their strength, durability, and natural-looking appearance, closely mimicking the light-reflecting properties of your enamel. Veneers are bonded to a tooth's surface to address a range of cosmetic concerns, such as chips, gaps, stains, or misalignment.
Why Pick Colombia for Dental Tourism?

And though people speak Spanish in Colombia, we can communicate in English with our international patients. We’d love to see you in either Cartagena, Medellin, Bogota, or Cali.

How to Get Porcelain Veneers in Colombia
1. Get a Free Quote Online
The first step is a free online consultation. If you haven’t already, please upload 5 photos of your teeth and answer a few questions. We’ll respond shortly to confirm you’re a candidate for porcelain veneers and share a personalized, detailed treatment plan.
2. Plan Your Trip to Colombia
Once you’re happy with your porcelain veneers quote, start thinking about dates. Before you book, be sure to check with us to ensure we have availability. We have offices in Cartagena, Medellin, Bogota, and Cali.
To confirm your appointment, we’ll need your flight and hotel information. This is instead of a deposit and helps coordinate your free dental transportation.
3. Fly to Colombia
Upon arrival, we’ll pick you up from the airport and handle all of your dental related transportation needs. This includes hotel check in, to and from each appointment, and back to the airport.
4. Tooth Preparation
During your first appointment, your dentist will confirm your treatment plan by examining you up close. When both of you are ready to proceed, tooth preparation begins. This process typically requires the removal of a small amount of enamel from the front and sides of your teeth to make space for the veneers. The amount of enamel removed is usually less than a millimeter (0.3mm) and is roughly equal to the thickness of the veneer to be fitted.
5. Impressions and Temporary Veneers
After the teeth are prepared, your dentist will make an impression or mold of your teeth. This mold is used to create your custom veneers in our dental lab. The fabrication process takes a few days depending on the quantity of veneers you get. In the meantime, we’ll place temporary veneers to protect your prepared teeth.
6. Veneer Fabrication
Your impressions are sent to a dental laboratory where the porcelain veneers are custom-made for your teeth. During fabrication, color shading can be adjusted to match your surrounding teeth for a natural look.
7. Fitting of the Veneers
Once your full set of veneers in Colombia are ready, you will return to our dental office for fitting. Before the porcelain veneers are permanently bonded to your teeth, your dentist will temporarily place them to examine their fit and color. We will then remove and trim the veneers as needed to achieve the perfect fit.
8. Bonding
To prepare your teeth to receive the veneers, your dentist will clean, polish, and etch them. Etching roughens the teeth to allow for a strong bonding process. A special cement is applied to the veneers, which are then placed onto your prepared teeth. Once positioned correctly, your dentist will apply a special light beam to the veneers, which activates chemicals in the cement causing it to harden quickly.
9. Final Adjustments and Follow-Up
After the veneers are bonded in place and the excess cement is removed, your dentist will make any necessary final adjustments. You may be asked to return for a follow-up visit a day or two after to check how your gums are responding to the presence of your veneers and to once again examine the veneer's placement.
Maintenance
Porcelain veneers do not require any special care beyond good oral hygiene practices. Brushing, flossing, and visits to your local dentist for regular check-ups are important to maintain the health and longevity of your veneers.
This process is not reversible due to the enamel removal, so it's a commitment that should be considered seriously.
Work Guarantee
Assuming you take proper care of your teeth, our dental work is guaranteed through an industry standard warranty of 1 year for porcelain work. This ensures work is properly manufactured and installed.
In the rare case of an issue, we will redo the work for free. We will not pay for return airfare or hotel. We will not reimburse work done by another dentist.

There are two types of professional teeth whitening that are done in dental offices, Medellin is no different. The post below will explain the two different teeth whitening options along with some additional tips before you get your teeth whitening in Medellin. Enjoy!
Two types of teeth whitening procedures in Medellin
There are a good deal of teeth whitening treatment options available to the average person. There are those that can be done in the comfort of your own home like tooth whitening toothpaste, tooth whitening mouthwash, and tooth whitening trips.
And then there are those that can only be done professionally in a dentist’s office. This is the same in Medellin. If you want fast, impactful, and inexpensive changes in your teeth whiteness then you should see a dentist.
In Medellin, like at other places, there are really two classes of professional teeth whitening that can be done, laser teeth whitening and teeth whitening take home kits. You will get great results from both options. What you need to do next is find out which is best for you.
In the coming paragraphs, we will explain the differences between the two. With this information, you should be able to make a better decision on which type of teeth whitening you’d like to get done while you’re in Medellin.
1. Laser teeth whitening at $100 USD per session
Laser teeth whitening is the most common option between the two. It works as follows. Before any teeth whitening begins, your dentist in Medellin will perform a general dental cleaning.
This is to make sure that any food, bacteria, and tartar are cleaned away. If this is not done, the whitening gel will not be as effective, resulting in a poor whitening experience.
After a proper cleaning, the dentist in Medellin will apply a whitening gel to the surface of your teeth. The dentist will have to make sure to only cover your teeth and not to touch your gums as the whitening gel will burn and cause discomfort. Your dentist in Medellin will probably use a protective barrier over your gums to ensure this does not happen.
After the whitening gel has been properly placed, the Colombian dentist will heat up and activate the bleaching agent by using a specialized LED lamp/laser. The more time your enamel is exposed to the active whitening agent, the more bleaching, the more noticeable the results will be. This is done in a few small session intervals.
The dentist is Medellin will apply the gel three to four times, with five to ten minutes between each application. The gel will remain on your teeth for about fifteen minutes before it is removed and a new layer is applied.
Depending on your desired result, your dentist in Medellin may recommend multiple appointments. The more shades of white you’d like to increase, the more sessions you need to do. It’s as simple as that. Most patients typically require at least two to three in-office whitening appointments in order to reach their whitening goals.
Each appointment is spread out every other day to let your gums heal. You will be sensitive for a few hours after the procedure. Of course, if time is of the essence, you may be able to do daily sessions back to back if you’re not too sensitive. Patient reactions can vary.
Understand that the whiteness of your smile naturally fades with time. Fading and staining will happen more rapidly if you’re a frequent smoker, coffee drinker, and/or red wine consumer.
You may decide to have new teeth whitening treatments done every few months or years to maintain your desired shade of whiteness. Every patient is different. If you have questions, consult your dentist in Medellin.
Each laser teeth whitening session is priced at $100 USD.
2. Teeth whitening take home kits are $150 USD
A teeth whitening take home kit is another great way to increase the whiteness of your smile with the expert supervision of your dentist in Medellin. This procedure uses custom made trays that deliver the bleaching agent to your teeth.
This is an excellent option if you’d like to save money on professional teeth whitening but cannot stay in Medellin for multiple follow up appointments or would rather just do it in the comfort of your own home. The process works as follows.
First, your dentist in Medellin will take impressions of your teeth which are sent to the lab technicians who will custom make your trays. Once they are created, you and your dentist in Medellin will sit down and go over how to properly use your new equipment, answering any questions you may have.
To simply explain, you will fill a syringe up with the whitening agent and squeeze it evenly out in your custom trays. These trays will then be placed over your teeth, covering the enamel surfaces. Once the gel has evenly covered your teeth, oxygen molecules will start to penetrate your enamel and the whitening process will begin.
The length of your treatment will depend on the strength of the whitening gel concentration designed for your intended results. Generally speaking, you should wear your tray daily anywhere from 15 to 60 minutes.
There is also an overnight treatment option where you’ll use a weaker, diluted gel that can safely be left in your mouth overnight. Please let your dentist in Medellin know if this option interests you. Most complete whitening treatment regimens should last about 2 whole weeks.
Your dentist in Medellin will recommend that you do this teeth whitening treatment every few months, or whenever stains begin to appear again. Only perform touch-up treatments with the guidance of your Colombian dentist.
Please know that over-whitening can cause permanent enamel erosion. Do not whiten your teeth if you are pregnant. The whitening gel contains chemicals that can be harmful to your child if accidentally swallowed.
Each teeth whitening take home kit costs $150 USD.
Why does teeth whitening in Medellin cost so little?
The reason why teeth whitening (and cosmetic dentistry in general) costs a lot less in Medellin compared to in the US or Canada is that the cost of labor is relatively inexpensive.
You’re really simply saving on cost of labor since many dentists in Medellin use the exact same dental manufacturers and materials as dentists back home.
Ensure your dentist in Medellin is experienced in teeth whitening
Just like you would with any dental care treatment, make sure the Colombian dentist who will be doing the teeth whitening treatment has experience with the type of procedure you’d like done.
Though these are common procedures and most dentists in Medellin will have a good deal experience, you should read reviews online, explore their website and social media, and speak with their office directly first.
Enjoy having your teeth whitening in Medellin!

As you may know, there are many options when it comes to teeth whitening. There are some that you can do in the comfort of your home, like tooth whitening toothpaste or mouthwashes, and whitening strips.
And then there are some that can only be done by visiting a dental office. This is the same in Cali, Colombia. If you want quick, noticeable, and affordable changes in your teeth whiteness then you should see a dentist.
In Cali, Colombia, like at other places, there are really two classes of professional teeth whitening that can be done, laser teeth whitening and teeth whitening take home kits. You will get great results from both options, deciding which one is best for you comes down to a few details.
We will discuss the differences of the two in the coming paragraphs below. With this information, you should be able to make a better decision on which type of teeth whitening you’d like to get done while you’re in Cali, Colombia.
1. Laser teeth whitening is $100 USD per session
The most common option between the two is laser teeth whitening and it works as follows. Before any teeth whitening begins, the dentist in Cali, Colombia will perform a typical dental cleaning to make sure that any food, bacteria, and tartar are cleaned away and not present.
If this is not done, the bleaching agent used for whitening will not be as effective. Failure to remove these obstructions will cause adverse effects and a poor whitening experience.
After a good cleaning, the dentist in Cali, Colombia will apply the whitening gel to the surface of your teeth’s enamel with great precision and care. The dentist will have to be careful to only cover the surfaces of your teeth and not your gums. It is very important that the whitening gel does not come in contact with your gums.
If it does, the soft tissue of your gums will become sore and irritated, and you may experience a burning sensation. Your dentist in Cali, Colombia will probably use a protective barrier over your gums to prevent any of these issues with the whitening gel.
Once the bleaching agent has been applied to the surface of your teeth, the Colombian dentist will use a specialized LED lamp/laser to heat up and activate the whitening gel. The more time your enamel is exposed to the active whitening agent, the more bleaching, the more noticeable the results will be.
Please keep in mind that most patients will require multiple sessions in order to see significant change in the whiteness of their smile. Some folks may only want a single session touch up while others will plan for a multi session regimen.
Treatment appointments are performed in a few small session intervals. The dentist is Cali, Colombia will apply the gel three to four times, with five to ten minutes between each application. The gel will remain on your teeth for about fifteen minutes before it is removed and a new layer is applied.
Your dentist in Cali, Colombia may recommend multiple appointments in order to achieve your desired cosmetic result depending on how white you want your teeth and how much of a gap that is from your current shade. Most patients typically require at least two in-office whitening appointments in order to reach their whitening goals.
Due to the gum sensitivity you will experience, consecutive whitening appointments are spread out every other day. This is done to make sure your gums have time to heal. Of course, if time is of the essence, you may be able to do daily sessions back to back if you’re not too sensitive. Patient reactions can vary.
Please understand that the whiteness of your smile naturally fades away as time marches on. Fading and staining will happen more rapidly if you’re a frequent smoker, coffee drinker, and/or red wine consumer.
You may decide to have new treatments done every few months or years to maintain your desired shade of whiteness. Every patient is different.
Each laser teeth whitening session is priced at $100 USD.
2. Teeth whitening take home kits are $150 USD
A teeth whitening take home kit is another great way to increase the whiteness of your smile with the expert supervision of your dentist in Cali, Colombia. This method uses trays that are custom made for you to deliver the bleaching agent to your teeth in a precise manner.
This is a great option if you’d like to save money on professional teeth whitening but cannot stay in Cali, Colombia for multiple follow up appointments. The process works as follows.
First, your dentist in Cali, Colombia will have to take impressions of your teeth in order to custom make the trays. These impressions are sent to lab technicians who do the manufacturing. Once the trays have been created, you and your Colombian dentist will discuss how to properly use your new equipment, answering any questions you may have about how the treatment works.
To simply explain, you will fill a syringe up with the whitening agent and squeeze it out in your custom trays. These trays will then be placed over your teeth, covering the enamel surfaces of your teeth. Once the gel has evenly covered your teeth, oxygen molecules will start to penetrate your enamel and the whitening process will begin.
The length of your treatment will depend on the strength of the whitening gel concentration designed for your intended results. For the most part, you should wear your tray daily anywhere from 15 to 60 minutes.
There is also an overnight treatment option where you’ll employ the use a weaker, diluted gel that can safely be left in your mouth overnight. Please let your dentist in Cali, Colombia know if this option interests you. Most complete whitening treatment regimens should last about 2 whole weeks.
Your dentist in Cali, Colombia will recommend that you do this teeth whitening treatment every few months, or whenever stains begin to appear again. Only perform touch-up treatments with the guidance of your Colombian dentist.
Please know that over-whitening can cause permanent enamel erosion. You also should also not whiten your teeth if you are pregnant. The whitening gel contains chemicals that can harm your child if accidentally swallowed.
Each teeth whitening take home kit costs $150 USD.

What are their prices like? Are they all pretty close to one another or are there some that are way off? Disregard any outliers. Another important thing you’ll want to make sure of is ensuring that you’re properly comparing dental procedures. This is an issue because nomenclature among dental offices can vary pretty drastically, to top that off, there may be some language trouble. For someone that most likely does not work in the dental industry, this can be very confusing.
