Cartagena City Private Driving Tour Route

Convent of Santa Cruz de la Popa

On a 150 meter high hill, at the highest point in Cartagena, stands this spiritual convent. Built between 1606 and 1611, Convent of Santa Cruz de la Popa was constructed by Catholic Augustine fathers. It was initially just a small wooden chapel, but when the hill was fortified two centuries later, it was replaced by a stouter construction. The cloister of La Popa Convent is one of the most beautiful in all of Colombia. The view from up here is one of the most amazing the city has to offer.

Castle of San Felipe de Barajas

Built in 1657 during the Spanish Colonial Era, the Castle of San Felipe de Barajas is considered one of the seven wonders of Colombia, recognition that accredits it as one of the largest structures built in Colombian territory. The castle is located on the Hill of San Lázaro in a strategic location, dominating approaches to the city by land or sea. Just don’t get lost in the tunnels!

Getsemani

Getsemani’s fun squares and picturesque streets are a daily meeting point for locals and foreigners where culture, anecdotes, and talent are exchanged. Visit Holy Trinity Square, where laid-back groups gather to drink beer, listen to street musicians, and snack on delicious grilled arepas.
